Sound Exchange is the culmination of the Aural Textiles/Distributed Capabilities project, funded by the Royal Society of Edinburgh, which has been running for the last 2.5 years.
The exhibition showcases sound-inspired objects crafted by eleven applied artists from across Scotland working in cross-disciplinary collaborations. Each piece is beautifully considered, covering concepts around protection, environment, loss and joy; material properties; and tangible vs intangible experience. The collection as a whole asks you to consider the ways in which you engage with the sounds around you, and the significance they can hold. A storefront exhibition with video projection, this exhibition can be experienced from the pavement outside the venue. It is best visited after 8pm.
