  • Young carvers symposium, Cumbria

A one-day career symposium from The Lettering Arts Trust

Open to everyone, from those considering taking up a dummy and chisel and current college students to those who have recently qualified. Join eleven respected letter carvers, organisations and suppliers as they share their recommendations and guidance.

We have gathered an impressive range of speakers who will share their experiences in eleven sessions. From developing longstanding client relationships; partnerships with architects and conservation organisations; how to maximise creative/gallery opportunities; installation anecdotes to understanding how a quarry operates or specialist tools are made – participants will take away a sense of this specialist craft’s business dynamics.

This is a chance to learn from those who've mastered this precious heritage craft and turned their passion into a fulfilling career. Speakers offering their perspective include:

  • Gary Breeze
  • Martin Cook
  • Charlotte Howarth
  • Mark Noad
  • Louise Tiplady
  • Tom Sargeant (LAT apprentice)
  • Haysom quarry
  • Robbie Schneider
  • RH&G Travis (toolmakers)
