I create in my sculptures for interiors a pivotal point, where balance meets imbalance. The handmade, sustainable vessels are poised for movement, then with a push, their dance begins. Balanced-Earth stem from a need for balance, they represent physical balance, and in the living plants they hold and protect, they evoke a need for us to engender balance with our natural environment. The vessel frames utilise recycled materials, seemingly waste materials with stories, and a renewed purpose.

Focus:
Balance with re-use & ethical materials

The Balanced-Earth Starling kinetic sculpture and Curlews can be seen alongside other Rising Stars in the exhibition from 12th March to 23rd April 2022. New Ashgate Gallery, Waggon Yard, Farnham, GU9 7PS. New Ashgate Gallery’s Rising Stars is a platform to champion the most exciting new craft by early career makers in craft, design and applied arts. This curated exhibition will be showcased at the New Ashgate Gallery and includes a programme of professional development events and a £1,000 prize. The participants are graduating students, recent graduates or at a pivotal point in their early career due to changed circumstances. Twenty makers of diverse backgrounds are selected for the exhibition by a panel of craft professionals, focusing on potential and talent.
