Rose petal brooches
This series of work attempts to capture the beauty of a flower as it blooms and dies. Each brooch is made from real petals, sewn when semi dried. Over time they dry further, the colour changes, the piece becoming more delicate and finally they will fall, replicating the natural life of a flower. However as it dies it reveals an abstract shadow of the original flower, hand embroidered and beaded – a stitched memory of the original bloom.
