Stitch brooches
There is a long tradition within textiles and particularly embroidery of re-appropriation. The ‘good’ part of a piece of clothing being cut down and re-used, moved to another. Small pieces of decoration that lift a garment, when it is impractical or unaffordable to have the whole piece covered. This range of brooches take unused or old samples and giving them a new life as a brooch, although each is a discarded sample, each is beautiful and has qualities that are worthwhile.
