The dyeing process: in preparation, each piece must be scoured then mordanted for the fabric to hold colour once dyed. The fabric is then covered with red onion skins, cutch, madder and rose leaves, and rolled up tightly, tied and steamed for around one hour to bind the botanical inks into the fabric. Once allowed to cool, all the botanical leaves and skins shaken off, rinsed in cold water and then washed at 30 degrees in the washing machine to confirm colourfastness.
The rolling stage of the eco printing process.
Our fabric is carefully sourced; the Erika Top is made of 100% organic Indian cotton
This Khadi cotton is hand woven in India.
The Botanical Energy Collection also includes a number of un-dyed pieces. These gives you the option to wear un-dyed unbleached or naturally dyed clothing, which is kinder to your skin and the environment. Or to experiment with your own natural dye processes and learn to create in a way that is friendly to the earth.
