Malaria Necklace

A private commission for a scientist, this sculptural necklace was made to a brief to describe the lifecycle of the Malaria parasite as it infects red blood cells. It appears as different shapes as it invades the cells. The different glass forms represent the various shapes found in infected red blood cells, with the main branching structure of the jewellery representing part of the venous system. Kiln-formed glass shapes, silver electroforming, modelling compound.
