Na Mara
Lyndsay’s collection, ‘Na Mara’ (Gaelic for ‘of the sea’), arose after visits to Scottish beaches, where she was captured by messy compositions of debris left by the tides.
Drawing is central to her process, used to develop abstract impressions from the landscape. Based on the drawn-line, her jewellery varies with each iteration, expressing the shifting nature of the coast. Many of her pieces are non-matching, with their own distinct pattern; as with a drawing, each is unique.

The design has been hand carved in wax before being cast, drawing on abstract impressions of the Scottish East Coast. The design is intentionally different each time, in order to create a piece unique to the wearer.
Cylindrical stud drop earrings, which are tube-riveted to create playful movement when worn. The inlaid pattern is created by first photoetching using my own original drawings and then enamelling. The configuration of this design is unique each time, meaning that no two earrings are the same, even within a pair.
Cylindrical drop earrings, each with individual abstract pattern. The design is created by photoetching with my own original drawings, before being hand drawn into tube, and then enamelled (champlevé). The findings are also riveted to move when worn.
Non-identical earrings based on abstract drawings of transient flotsam and jetsam washed up on the Scottish coast. To keep the same spontaneity of the subject matter, the forms of the silver elements and pattern laid out each time is different, creating a unique pair of earrings for every wearer.
The surface of this brooch is inlaid with a pattern of gilding metal, with a patina that alters the metal so that it turns to a contrasting black. Reverse set cabochon stones create hidden details at the ends of the tube.
Striking, elegant long drop tubular earrings, riveted to hang and move well. Unique inlay pattern stands out against the black patinated forms, inspired by the shapes of beach finds.
Silver sketch non-identical stud earrings, reflecting the maker’s love of the drawn line and passion for mark-making. Matte finish with a shiny burnished edge to catch the light; a unique contemporary design.
Hollow-form silver curl studs, subtly asymmetrical to create a unique pair of earrings each time. Matte finish with a paper-white patina and a burnished edge, a detail that catches the light when worn. Based on impressions from the Scottish Coast.
Earrings created using a technique of wire inlay I have developed to create pattern with mixed metals, in a design inspired by my own abstract drawings of the Scottish coast. Once the unique pattern has been laid down on sheet, it is hand drawn into tube to create lightweight hollow forms.
Subtly textured silver stud earrings, with a blackened oxidised finish for a graphic contemporary look. Subtly asymmetrical earrings with a shiny burnished edge that catches the light when worn.
