Tilt Ellipses 3
The development of these Tilt Ellipses focuses upon the expressive surface rendered through painterly brush-work, natural breakdown and chemical reactions. The multiple slips and glazes accumulate in layers; a precarious process. As water evaporates, the powdery surface residue is rendered vulnerable under the pressure from subsequent layers. Ultimately the surface becomes cracked and disrupted as areas are dislodged revealing the layers beneath. The work is then surrendered to the kiln.
