Join the Crafts Council's Learning team in the Gallery for a special look at Craft School: a summer of playful making.

Education practitioners are invited to enjoy a full day of professional learning at the Crafts Council Gallery. This in-person training will be fast-paced and packed with creative activities to enrich your craft education practice.

Find out about 'Make First', our open-ended, playful approach to craft education that empowers teachers and learners to take creative risks, develop their voice as craftspeople and become braver and more joyful makers. Working alongside sector peers and our Learning team, you'll share personal insights and gain tips on how to apply 'Make First' techniques to your own classroom.

Attendees will:

  • Take part in practical workshops that explore reclaimed and reusable materials, making techniques and creative prompts for use with learners.
  • View case studies and examples of how 'Make First' can be scaffolded to support a range of learning styles and needs, whilst connecting with the curriculum.
  • Meet likeminded craft educators and practitioners and join our growing movement for championing craft in the classroom.
