Lichen and Moss

Lichens and mosses inspire my artwork with their diverse textures, patterns, shapes and colours. They live literally ‘on the edge’ on bark the outer skin of trees and various lichens and mosses anchor themselves onto rock, wood, bone, concrete, glass and metal. I aim to recreate these textures and patterns through the use of fabric and free machine and embroidery within an abstract composition.
