Mulberry Table & Chairs
One of a series of ‘Leaf’ tables with three leg, one dominant and two following the lines of the vein in the surface of the table; each in the series designed to suit a specific room. The informal shape, in contrast to more conventional ones, engages guests and this leads onto their further investigation and delight in a rare experience. Expressing the beauty of nature and its diversity, this group exemplifies the innovation and excellent craftmanship John affords to all of his work.

This table and chairs is beautifully crafted from mulberry, wild Cherrywood and cast bronze. Unique and distinct in size and shape, the size required an innovative structural approach, and the leaf form is indicative of the solution where the central vein connects the main leg to the two supplementary ones, leaving the perimeter of the table free of obstruction. Veins radiate from the central vein to emphasise the projecting lobes and the individual place-settings. Each of the twelve lobes is distinct in shape and character. The top tapers from one end to the other, towards the edge, where it is sculpted away to engage those sitting at the table to investigate further. The dominant leg projects and two discrete legs sit beneath the curved line of the veins in plan.
This attractive wooden table was designed to be the perfect centrepiece to a dining room and reflects the natural beauty and shape of an autumn leaf. It is made from mulberry wood, robinia and bronze.
