My principal references are the distorted, decaying, bawdy fruits of Luis Meléndez and the compositions and painterly qualities of Jean-Baptiste-Siméon Chardin. Porcelain is chosen for its paradoxical qualities of delicacy and strength. Built using coils of clay, pieces are painted with many layers of coloured, transparent liquid clays to form a skin-like membrane
