Built using coils of pinched and squeezed clay, pieces are painted with many layers of coloured, transparent liquid clays to form a skin-like membrane
H 60 cm Diam 38 Coiled porcelain, coloured slips, ceramic transfers. Signs of fragility and vulnerability are exposed in the handmade object.
I am exploring the idea of the ceramic pot as a relic or a womb. My intention is to highlight the animate qualities of the drawn line, the handmade mark, and the material itself and expose a kind of raw rudeness.
