Shinymouth Pots
Exploring how hand-making humanizes an object, certain elements become pivotal, resembling the flush of a wound or lure of an orifice. Porcelain is chosen for its paradoxical qualities of delicacy and strength. Built using coils of clay, pieces are painted with many layers of coloured, transparent liquid clays to form a skin-like membrane. Digitally printed transfers using images of my garden flowers together with glaze and gold leaf allude to the material’s history.
