Shinymouths Contained
Beginning with sketches made directly from the collections in the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Wallace Collection, and the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres, my porcelain ceramics investigate how rapid sketching becomes more anthropomorphic with repetition and how this translates into sculptures of pottery. The quick, pure, basic sketch is suggested in ceramic by modeling from my drawings, redrawing and remaking to capture the animate qualities of clay and the drawn line
